Artist Statement

My fascination with art began at an early age, with some of my firsthand experiences being watching my older siblings draw. From that point on, it has been a journey of constant self-betterment for me. The whole world, along with the amazing creations of others, is an ever-present source of inspiration. By taking my observations, superimposing them with my imagination and channeling them into my work, I like creating art that is unusual, but still aesthetically pleasing. Primarily, I like to draw with pens, but I enjoy mixing things up as well, using pencils, markers, watercolors or oil paints. Furthermore, I very much so enjoy creating digital art and dabbling with photography. At times, creating something new at our era of the informational overload seems almost impossible; however, I continue to strive to do just that. My desire is that my representations of ideas find themselves favorable, intriguing, thought provoking and inspiring. I will tirelessly work until the day when I am able to execute my work with definite precision directly from my imagination, only to continue my journey of bringing the vast imaginative world into reality.

biography

Ganjofarid Anvarzod was born in 1993 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Growing up in the post-civil war state of his country, Ganjofarid discovered vast realms of new ideas, myths, legends, and characters filled with great adventures written in books. Wanting to immerse himself further into the imaginative world, Ganjofarid would spend time drawing and creating his own fantasy worlds.

Throughout the course of his life, Ganjofarid has been presented with the opportunity to live and study in different cultures, such as in Romania and the United States of America. Ganjofarid chose to become a Graphic Design major with a double minor in Studio Arts and Photography at Saint Vincent College, as well as becoming a Resident Assistant which gave him the ability to share his life experiences and help guide other students to better themselves. The Graphic Design program helped Ganjofarid achieve an understanding of the elements and principles of art and give proper training in drawing, illustrating, web design, video editing, printmaking, as well as giving the ability to wield softwares such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere and Dreamweaver.

During his college years, Ganjofarid executed numerous freelance works, from designing logos for campus clubs to designing the cover art of a student-run magazine, along with taking peer commissions.

Ganjofarid hopes that, through his art and through himself, he will be able to build a greater community wherever he goes, based on a deep understanding of each individual, mutual respect and an unending quest for freedom and peace.
